The house is kind of feeling close with Toby having some bad days so when Quentin gets a door, he goes through and searches for Yamato. He knows there's a free concert at the end of a fair with lots of food trucks happening and that should be fun.

When he got dressed he tried to look nicer, so he's wearing a button down shirt, his hair's wet and he's fiddling with his cuffs as he waits at the counter.

"I hope you'll like it,"

As he opens the door, it leads out to a park with alternative folk music playing, a line of food trucks with horrible punny names and a wide mixture of people.

Yamato heads out, taking in his surroundings. He long ago stopped trying to control his tendency towards giving every new place a strategic once-over, so as he sweeps his gaze over the park, he takes a moment to log the entrances and exits, the areas big enough for Garurumon to operate in, any blind spots.

It only takes a few seconds, and then he starts looking at the park properly, taking in the food trucks and seeing if any catch his eye.

When they come out, he keeps an eye on Yamato to see what he thinks, "The ocean's not too far away, when the music's quieter, we should be able to hear it."

The food trucks have everything from waffles to Korean to fried everything.

Yamato smiles, nudging Quentin's shoulder. "Where should we go first, then? I'm in your hands."

"Let's go with some food and then the ocean while there's still light,"

He heads to a truck called Put it on a Waffle!.

"I'm impressed by how many of the trucks here have managed to work in puns," Yamato says wryly. "Must've taken some effort."

"It does, the right name and looks helps them do well,"

The menu of the waffle truck is impressive with seemingly everything from fruit to steak on a waffle. Quentin for a chicken and waffle sandwich and a tropical fruit waffle for dessert. Then waits to see what Yamato orders, then he'll pay for them both.

Yamato orders another chicken and waffle sandwich -- out of curiosity as much as anything, he's never had savoury waffles before -- and a chocolate and vanilla waffle for dessert.

Once he pays, Quentin walks towards the lights that are on the pier as behind them the band gets into a kind of shanty song. There's some balancing required and he spots a free bench, "Here."

Yamato settles down on one side of the bench, and starts on the chicken and waffle sandwich.

"This is -- good. I wasn't sure what to expect from it."

"Its a Southern thing and I like it especially like this with a nice mix of sweet and salty. The weather's behaving so far too,"

No fog or rain, he hopes that it stays nice.

"If it rains, we can always use my jacket as shelter until we find somewhere with a roof. Or an umbrella shop."

"Its San Francisco, there's always somewhere to go for shelter. What do you think of the music?"

"It's good. Folk music's not exactly my thing, but I like it. Do you know what band it is?"

"Oh," Its one of his favorites, well alternative folk, but Yamato is in a rock band. Quentin puts down his food and searches out a flyer he picked up, "They're called Animal Lore."

Yamato takes the flyer, giving it a quick read. "I should see if they're around in my world, when I get back."

"They might be. I've never thought about that."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"Apart from the whole Digimon thing, my Earth seems to be exactly like most patron's Earths, so -- they might, yeah. I'll look them up."

[heatherandsteel]

"And for mine, its well people like me. They're good. I'll share some Great Big Sea with you, they're my favorites."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"That does seem to be the thing about a lot of the Earths in bar, especially the early 21st century ones. They're all identical bar one big difference. And the difference is usually something secret and supernatural," Yamato says, thoughtfully.

"I think I might have heard of Great Big Sea. Haven't listened to any of their music, though."

"Yes and it always seems to be something different or not exactly right. Stories about Fae are common but never the same. They're one of my favorite bands, I'll give you some of their music."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"That weirdly doesn't seem to be true of any other world. I know that there are people from multiple versions of Thedas, too, but there isn't, like, one Thedas where everyone has a pet dragon, and one Thedas where everything is virtually the same except dragons don't exist and some people have metal claws."

Something to consider, at least.

"That's weirdly specific and must be confusing."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"Those were just examples off the top of my head. I mean, neither of those Thedas-y places exist," Yamato says.

"What I mean is, from what I can tell, every version of Thedas in the bar is roughly the same with minor differences -- it's not like Earth, where they all have one big, glaring difference, but usually only one."

"Yes, which does kind of help with knowing if someone's from your world."
