The house is kind of feeling close with Toby having some bad days so when Quentin gets a door, he goes through and searches for Yamato. He knows there's a free concert at the end of a fair with lots of food trucks happening and that should be fun.

When he got dressed he tried to look nicer, so he's wearing a button down shirt, his hair's wet and he's fiddling with his cuffs as he waits at the counter.

"Could be a Chosen thing," Yamato remarks mildly, watching the pixies as they leave. "We're able to see out-of-phase Digimon, too, so we at least have some track record for seeing things other people can't."

"How does a Digimon get out-of-phase?"

Once the pixies are gone, Quentin hands the other fried banana to Yamato and ends up getting even more glitter on both of them.

"It's just a -- thing. Whenever something starts eroding the boundaries between worlds, Digimon start slipping through the cracks without coming through all the way," Yamato says, waving a hand. "Nobody else can see them, but they can still cause damage."

He gives the glittery fried banana a slightly wry look, but is still more than happy to eat it. A bit of glitter never hurt anyone.

Then its good that he can't see how the glitter's ended up on both their backs and hair, "Huh, that sounds bad."

"It doesn't exactly happen often," Yamato says. "So it's not like there are invisible Digimon rampaging through Tokyo every day or anything."

"Oh good, you've got enough trouble without invisible Digimon," Quentin reaches out to try and brush a little of the glitter off of Yamato's hair, "I think I see a spot near the band."

Yamato ducks his head a little, and reaches over to return the favour. He mostly just manages to spread the glitter around, since it's less of a brush and more of a ruffle.

"Let's go, then."

"Yes, you'll need another shower. Pixie glitter is hard to get off,"

Then his ears go pink because that sounded more than he meant to say. The band is getting ready for their next song.

"We'll, er, both need another shower," Yamato remarks, stumbling just slightly over that last word, because oh god that sounds like he means they should take the same shower, together, and maybe he 20% does but he mostly doesn't.

The stumbling is really cute and he feels better knowing Yamato nervous too, and gives him a shoulder bump.

An entire cloud of glitter rises up from both of them and settles down again, "Yeah, um, do you like the banana?"

Yamato is -- just going to think about bananas and not about showering with Quentin. Okay. Good. Great.

"Yeah, it's, um, it's very -- potassium-y."

"There's a band too," Yamato knows that and that came out the wrong way.

"T-There is. They're very, um, musical."

[heatherandsteel]

"Yes, they are,"

The band gets louder which is kind of useful, not as many chances for awkward talk. Quentin finishes his food and wonders how weird Yamato would find dancing with him.

Yamato tries not to feel like a total idiot ('potassium-y?' 'musical?' What the fuck?), and just settles next to Quentin, finishing off his food.

Quentin smiles as the band goes into a couple of loud songs that gets the audience singing along as he eats his ice cream.

Yamato doesn't know the words, and isn't exactly a singing along type anyway, but he quietly enjoys the music, sliding an arm around Quentin's shoulders.

This is easier, talking is tricky but he likes having Yamato close.

"What's this band called, anyway? Er. If you know, that is."

[heatherandsteel]

"Hopeful Romantics, its a good name,"

They're onto a slower song now.

It occurs to Yamato that he really should ask Quentin to dance.

But also, he's fairly sure that if he tries, it'll just come out as a string of meaningless, garbled sounds.

So.

Quentin's debating how best to ask Yamato to dance, words are being weird, so leans up to kiss Yamato's jaw.

Yamato grins despite himself, and leans down to return the favour, kissing Quentin's cheek quickly.

He shifts a little closer at the kiss as the band starts up a faster song.

"Doyouwanttodance," Yamato says, very rapidly and very garbled, and possibly a little more forcefully than intended.
