The house is kind of feeling close with Toby having some bad days so when Quentin gets a door, he goes through and searches for Yamato. He knows there's a free concert at the end of a fair with lots of food trucks happening and that should be fun.

When he got dressed he tried to look nicer, so he's wearing a button down shirt, his hair's wet and he's fiddling with his cuffs as he waits at the counter.

"Its a Southern thing and I like it especially like this with a nice mix of sweet and salty. The weather's behaving so far too,"

No fog or rain, he hopes that it stays nice.

"If it rains, we can always use my jacket as shelter until we find somewhere with a roof. Or an umbrella shop."

"Its San Francisco, there's always somewhere to go for shelter. What do you think of the music?"

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"It's good. Folk music's not exactly my thing, but I like it. Do you know what band it is?"

"Oh," Its one of his favorites, well alternative folk, but Yamato is in a rock band. Quentin puts down his food and searches out a flyer he picked up, "They're called Animal Lore."

Yamato takes the flyer, giving it a quick read. "I should see if they're around in my world, when I get back."

"They might be. I've never thought about that."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"Apart from the whole Digimon thing, my Earth seems to be exactly like most patron's Earths, so -- they might, yeah. I'll look them up."

"And for mine, its well people like me. They're good. I'll share some Great Big Sea with you, they're my favorites."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"That does seem to be the thing about a lot of the Earths in bar, especially the early 21st century ones. They're all identical bar one big difference. And the difference is usually something secret and supernatural," Yamato says, thoughtfully.

"I think I might have heard of Great Big Sea. Haven't listened to any of their music, though."

"Yes and it always seems to be something different or not exactly right. Stories about Fae are common but never the same. They're one of my favorite bands, I'll give you some of their music."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"That weirdly doesn't seem to be true of any other world. I know that there are people from multiple versions of Thedas, too, but there isn't, like, one Thedas where everyone has a pet dragon, and one Thedas where everything is virtually the same except dragons don't exist and some people have metal claws."

Something to consider, at least.

"That's weirdly specific and must be confusing."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"Those were just examples off the top of my head. I mean, neither of those Thedas-y places exist," Yamato says.

"What I mean is, from what I can tell, every version of Thedas in the bar is roughly the same with minor differences -- it's not like Earth, where they all have one big, glaring difference, but usually only one."

"Yes, which does kind of help with knowing if someone's from your world."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"It's definitely useful. Has anyone else from your world showed up at Milliways?"

[heatherandsteel]

"A few people have, which is strange. I mean its nice that they know but still kind of odd too. Has anyone else other than Taichi shown up from yours?"

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"Nah, just Taichi. We don't seem to be from exactly the same time, either -- he seems to come in from a few days or weeks before me, most times."

[heatherandsteel]

"So you know things he doesn't?"

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"Nothing major? I mean, I think the only major thing is that he comes from before the battle with Alphamon and I come from after it, but I -- don't want to talk to him about that."

He doesn't even want to talk to present day Taichi about that, even though everyone is insisting he should.

"So apart from knowing when Mr. Nishijima is going to give him his next sudden death calligraphy quiz, it's not like I have any dire warnings from the future for him."

"That'd be odd. I can't imagine what it would be like if I was from after Toby when there had been a battle. I mean I can lie but that's tricky."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"Well, it's not like he's asked. If he does, then obviously I have to tell him, but I don't even think telling him would change anything."

Beat.

"Besides, this is Taichi, master of evading awkward subjects. He's not going to ask."

Yamato's not bitter, Quentin. You're bitter.

Quentin has no idea what to say, so shifts to have his side against Yamato,

"Yeah, Toby's like that. Why talk when you can drink coffee?"

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"There's definitely something to be said for drinking coffee instead of talking, though," Yamato says wryly, leaning against Quentin.

"It works at every time of day and the stains blend well with blood."
